Welcome to the Exeter Day School
Celebrating our 75th anniversary! 1939-2014
Exeter Day School, established in 1936 and incorporated in 1939, is a non-profit school for 2-6 year olds. It is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine parents of the children. The school has an ideal location adjacent to the Phillips Exeter Academy fields with woods, nature trails, a playground and spacious open fields for the children to use and enjoy.
The philosophy of the Day School reflects the belief that the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social areas of development are integrated in the effort to help the child become a whole person. A healthy blending of these three areas will enable the child to face bigger challenges with ease and intelligence. The school encourages the child to develop and keep with him or her enjoyment of learning, expressed through constant curiosity and the knowledge and appreciation of his or her own talents as well as those of others. Through the disciplines of self-control, listening habits, the ability to follow directions, patience and the satisfaction of accomplishment, the child should be able to approach life with the confidence and feeling of self worth. Recognizing the fact that each child develops at a different pace, the school believes in adapting to the needs of the individual child.

I just wanted to personally thank each and every one of the teachers, staff and volunteers for a wonderful four years. Now with Julia starting Kindergarten in the fall, we have realized our time at your wonderful school is over. The girls have grown in so many ways over those four years, and have become confident and happy students! I owe this in large part, to the time they have spent at EDS. They are hoping to see familiar faces around town and in the schools in the coming years. Each of them have special memories and positive thoughts about their time there, and take those with them as they move on. The friends and relationships they formed at your school still continue even as Rachel enters the 2nd grade!
Special thanks from us to Mrs. Styles and Mrs. Gleason, who had both girls, and whom the girls still talk about and miss very much.
